North East Area Committee - 2004 - 2006 Chairmans Report
The North East Area AGM was held this year on Sunday 16 March 2004 and I am pleased to say that the new committee was formed to serve for the 2004 – 2006 period. The majority of the previous committee members, were once again ready to provide their voluntary services on behalf of the OAUK and North East Area members. Additionally, we have two new faces who have joined the North East Area committee, Dipakbhai and Jitenbhai.
The newly elected committee has already had two meetings and they are all keen to start planning some programmes/events for the benefit of Area members, in fact, as you will see from the enclosure some events have already been organised. The committee is keen to ensure that we can, as far as possible reach out to the differing age groups within our Area.
We hope that you will be able to support the North East Area committee by attending the programmes/events that we organise and also by assisting us as volunteers in these programmes.
The various sub-committee have already been actively organising events and the following provide a quick overview of what is coming up in the near future:
• The Culture and Heritage are hosting a Gujarati Play – “Couple No. 1 ” brought to you by Eastern Arts.
• The Gujarati School is busy practising for a Variety Programme in Celebration of 25 years of the School.
• Later on in the year, in early September, the Youth Club has organised a Darts Competition, that is open to all Areas. The places for this are limited, so please get you entry forms in as soon as possible.
• The Sakhi Mandal ladies have a fully planned schedule of their monthly events which started off last month with a Satsang, and will be followed this month with a Talk to be given by Jeminiben. I would like to encourage everyone to attend these meetings as they can be very informative.
Finally, I would like to thank the North East Area Oshwal members who have encouraged and given me the confidence to take up the role of the North East Area Chairperson. I hope that I shall be able to contribute as much as my predecessors.
Jai Jinendra,
Retesh Nemchand Shah
Chairman
