The Oshwal Ancestry | Migration to Jamnagar in the 16th Century | Migration to Africa | Migration to the United Kingdom | Migration to North America | Navagam - by Somchand Ladha Deva Gudka

Halari Visa Oshwal community is a very small community. At the beginning of this century, the population was between 10 to 12 thousand. By 1972, it had increased to 45 thousand. In the present day, the population is probably around 65,000, spread in some 22 nations around the world. The largest concentrations of Oshwals are in India, the United Kingdom and East Africa. In addition there are about 2,000 members in North America. The latest Oshwal migration has been to Australia.

What follows is a historical resume of the Oshwal community, we are continually trying to add and expand it, please contact us if you are able to help us in this respect. More detailed information on our heritage is available from our elders.
